GAIL's Bakery - Stratford-upon-Avon

For our first project with GAIL’s we were tasked with bringing to life the vision of GAIL’s and Object Space Place on their new Stratford-upon-Avon bakery. Situated on the main high street, with iconic architecture and heritage all around, the bakery needed to be designed in a way that aligns with the historic profile of the town.

Historic Architecture

The designers vision was to reimagine the classic Tudor Revival style with a modern twist, drawing inspiration from the iconic architecture of Stratford-upon-Avon.

Folded stainless steel counters were designed to echo this theme, providing a striking contrast to the reclaimed timber flooring, the grand timber-paneled staircase.

The project included stripping out the old interior to a shell before installing a new MF ceiling, decorating and updating the shop front, and fitting new doors and awnings.

Feature terracotta-toned herringbone tiles were also installed on the wall behind the service counter and we handled the complete decoration of the site and construction of partition walls.

Sustainability was at the forefront of the project, with existing features of the building being retained.

The grand staircase was reclaimed along with the timber flooring. On top of this much of the furniture was recycled and refurbished from other GAIL’s sites.

To draw on the heritage of Stratford-upon-Avon we refurbished original features of the building.

This included the team sanding the original timber-paneled staircase and refurbishing the reclaimed timber flooring in order to keep these elements part of the new site.
